At Prodevelop, we believe that port digitalization is not only about implementing new technological solutions, but also about strengthening the capabilities of the teams who manage them. In this context, this week we had the honour of welcoming the technical and IT team of the Port Authority of Kribi (PAK, Cameroon) to our offices in Valencia.
The visit took place within the framework of the ongoing database migration project we are carrying out with PAK, where the port’s current systems are being moved from Oracle to PostgreSQL. This change not only represents a technological modernisation, but also a commitment to efficiency, scalability, and sustainability in the digital infrastructure of the port – key aspects of port digitalization.
Specialised PostgreSQL training as part of port digitalization
During their stay in Valencia, the representatives from PAK took part in an intensive training course on PostgreSQL database administration and management, delivered by Arumel, our specialised training partner.
The aim of this training was to equip the port’s technicians with the necessary skills to autonomously manage the new data environments. PostgreSQL, as an open-source database management system, provides significant advantages in terms of flexibility, security and cost reduction, but also requires updated competences to be fully leveraged in the process of port digitalization.
Strengthening international cooperation
Beyond training, the visit was also an opportunity to move forward with the coordination of ongoing projects and explore new areas of cooperation for the future. The face-to-face exchange was key to streamlining processes, resolving technical questions and strengthening the relationship between the teams of Prodevelop and PAK.
The sessions were attended by:
-
From the Port Authority of Kribi (PAK):
Célestin Alexis Omgba, François Landry Ndjeng, Steve Mvilaki Elame, Patrick Derrick Amougou Mbazoa, Dieunedort Bekondo Kangue, and Loic Medou M’ekoman. -
From Prodevelop:
Alexandre Manuel Navarro Parra, Sandra Bázquez Guillén and Eugenie Kupfermunz. -
From Arumel:
Sergio Menoyo.
A further step in port digitalization in Africa
The migration to PostgreSQL is a milestone in the modernisation strategy of the Port Authority of Kribi, consolidating its position as one of the most dynamic hubs in Central Africa. At Prodevelop, we are proud to support this process and we reaffirm our commitment to international port digitalization, knowledge transfer, and close collaboration with our clients.
