- iTerminals 4.0 drives the digitalisation of port operations and the adoption of Industry 4.0 technologies in the container handling sector.
iTERMINALS4.0, an R + D + I project promoted by Prodevelop, has received the award in the Innovation category of the Waterborne Days, an interactive conference co-organized with the support of the European Commission that has managed to bring together the European community of transport by inland waterways.
Prodevelop has played a key role in the development of this product acting as leader of the set of pilot activities thanks to the extensive experience of the company in technological integration and its research activity.
The iTerminals 4.0 project focuses on the research and implementation of Industry 4.0 technologies in container loading and unloading operations in European ports. The initiative will generate a wide range of comprehensive advantages by digitalising port operations, including a significant increase in operational efficiency, substantial improvements in security and cybersecurity, reduced operating costs, and a notable decrease in the sector’s carbon footprint.
The aim of this conference was to highlight the success of research projects co-financed by the European Union and celebrate their contribution to the future of the European inland waterway transport sector.

The Waterborne Awards 2023 have awarded four outstanding European projects that have demonstrated significant impact, innovation and ability to be brought to market, one of them being iTerminals 4.0.
