Port of Gijón once again demonstrates its clear focus on digitalisation and commitment to cutting-edge technologies by migrating its Port Community System to the cloud.
We are delighted to announce the recent migration of Posidonia PCS to the cloud for the Port Authority of Gijón.
We have been working with the Port of Gijón for many years, with our Port Community System deployed on-premise, but the port authority recently decided to leverage the benefits of working with a Software as a Service (SaaS) model, and move Posidonia PCS to the cloud.
The switch from on-premise to the cloud was made quickly, and the port was able to continue offering its services without any setbacks.
In the words of Alejandro Coto, Operations Director of the Port of Gijón, “the transition has been very smooth, with hardly any impact on our day-to-day operations. Moreover, it was a change that we had to make sooner rather than later because of the many advantages that this model brings us“.
Working in the cloud will allow the Port Authority to have greater control over expenditure, as payment is recurrent and does not require a large initial investment.
The Port Authority of Gijon will benefit from any updates to the solution, without having to pay for them. Additionally, by hosting on AWS, the port can be confident that it has a service quality guarantee from Amazon, and enjoy the security and quality advantages of Prodevelop through its certifications for ENS medium security level, ISO 20000 and ISO 27001.
To summarise, with this change the Port Authority of Gijón is once again demonstrating its commitment to deploy flexible but secure technologies in order to deliver better service to its customers.
