We are very glad to inform that Prodevelop has been selected as one of the winners of the 3rd Open Call EUHubs4Data project.
The open call project entitled WATERPORTS: “Water quality assessment for ports using high resolution satellite data and artificial intelligence” aims to support environmental managers of Port Authorities in their day-to-day coastal water quality environmental monitoring tasks and decision making for mitigating their impact on climate change.
In detail, WATERPORTS will provide insights and forecast on water quality parameters such as: concentration of chlorophyll, sea water turbidity and concentration of suspended matter in sea water (considered as essential marine parameters according to the marine Strategic Framework Directive and Water Framework Directive), up to 2 km away from port coast, which will allow for better decision making, as well as contributing to a Common European Green Deal data.
The open call experiment will be regularly monitored and validated by the Port of Vigo environmental department. WATERPORTS will make use of two DIHs from EUHubs4Data:
- Cybersecurity Innovation Hub and The Data Cycle Hub (from ITI).
- Geospatial datasets extracted from Copernicus Marine Environment Monitoring Service (CMEMS).
The project has just started, with a kick-off meeting celebrated on 15th February. Our colleague Amelia del Rey presented WATERPORTS together with the other 17 open-call granted experiments that will received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 951771.
