PRODEVELOP has recently signed the Grant Agreement of the project the EIFFEL (Revealing the role of GEOSS as the default digital portal for building Climate Change adaptation & mitigation applications) submitted under the Horizon 2020 call LC-CLA-19-2020 Integrated GEOSS climate applications to support adaptation and mitigation measures of the Paris Agreement.
PRODEVELOP will develop, following a co-design approach, driven by the Port Authority of the Balearic Islands (BPA), an AI-based atmospheric pollution monitoring and predicting application. EIFFEL will use data mining techniques for the combination and analysis of enriched historical GEOSS information with land in-situ pollution stations, open datasets, port activity information: cargo, load/unload operations, cruise ships and land traffic, to have a better awareness of the impact of port activity in the environment and thus propose prediction and mitigation actions to minimize the carbon footprint of the port activity and its impact on the city, dominated by high seasonal cruise-ships traffic.
The demonstration of this application will take into account the support of entities such as Balearia, Cruises Lines International Association (CLIA), General Management body for Energy and Climate Change of Balearic Islands Government, Smart Office Palma and the Universitat de les Illes Balears (Balearic Islands University).
The Project will start at the beginning of June 2021 and will have a duration of three years
