Prodevelop has been working on the project to introduce LocalGIS in the Valencia province after having been awarded the task to apply it throughout Valencia.
LocalGIS is the Territorial Information System for Local Authorities (regional and municipal councils, etc.) which enables geo-referenced municipal management in addition to offering information services online to citizens using the region's maps. This is an initiative which forms part of the Plan Avanza 2 from the Industry, Tourism and Commerce Ministry.
In March and April, the LocalGIS project was successfully introduced into eight municipalities in ASP mode (Application Service Provider). Catarroja, Chiva, Massamagrell, Moncada, Puçol, Utiel, Valencia and Xàtiva were chosen for the pilot scheme and were therefore the first to receive the training and knowledge necessary to begin to use the application.
The effort and dedication the company put into this project is reflected in the results of the satisfaction survey carried out in the pilot towns during and after the training period.
More than 70% of those surveyed considered that the application's introduction made the work easier, and 43% said they will use the application almost every day. Speaking specifically about the application and its uses, around 50% of those surveyed said that it was an easy-to-use and intuitive application as well as being pleasing to the eye and modern.
The results obtained in the survey show what a highly qualified team Prodevelop has. More than 70% strongly agreed that the person in charge of providing the training had fully mastered the application and their explanations were clear and precise. Those surveyed also strongly agreed that the training allowed them to reach the level of knowledge necessary to use the LocalGIS application.
The project was conducted in collaboration with Everis consultants, who are in charge of adapting the Valencian e-Government Platform, and the state run company Imelsa, which provided the maps and managed the technical side of the project.
Prodevelop, with its team of experts, has demonstrated once again its extensive experience in the development and introduction of Geographical Information Systems within the framework of Open Source solutions, consolidating itself, through this project, as one of the leading companies in this type of technology at a national level. The project and training were run by our Project Manager, José Manuel Blanes Pacheco and Vicente Sanjaime Calvet, Geospatial Application Consultant and Programmer.
